THE MOUNTAIN SPRINGS
What exactly is “spring water”?
The FDA defines spring water as “water derived from an underground formation from which water flows naturally to the surface of the earth.” The FDA sets stringent national standards for what qualifies as “spring water” – standards that Arrowhead® consistently meets or exceeds. To view the FDA requirements in the Code of Federal Regulations, please see: Code of Federal Regulations.
Where does Arrowhead® water come from?
Our Arrowhead® 100% Mountain Spring Water comes from carefully selected mountain springs in California, Colorado and Western Canada to bring you the fresh taste thirsty folks desire. To get the full story, learn about our springs.
SPRING WATER QUALITY
What is the shelf life of Arrowhead® bottled water?
Our bottles don’t have an expiration date, but they do have a “Best By” date. Every Arrowhead® product is different and has a “Best By” date of its own:
• Sparkling 1.0L PET: 9 months from manufacturing date
• Sparkling 0.5L PET: 9 months from manufacturing date
• Still (non-carbonated): 18 months from manufacturing date
• Still (non-carbonated) 3G & 5G: 24 months from manufacturing date
Just find the letters “BB” (for “Best By”) which will either be one inch above or below the label depending on where your bottle was made. The date to the right of those letters is when the water might start losing that fresh mountain spring taste we all love so much.
Does Arrowhead® Mountain Spring Water contain fluoride?
The short answer: It’s your choice. The long answer: You can choose whether you want fluoridated or non-fluoridated bottled water. Our fluoridated bottled waters are clearly labeled and meet FDA standards. You can even check the fluoride value in our Water Quality Report.
How can I obtain Arrowhead's water quality report?
We have a detailed water quality report that is publically available and updated annually. We take the quality of water products seriously, and our report is based on independent testing results from certified labs. You can also call the 800 number located on your Arrowhead® water bottle label for more information.
What’s the difference between tap water and spring water?
Spring water is collected from a naturally occurring spring source. It contains all the naturally occurring minerals of the spring, giving it that refreshing taste. Tap water usually comes from a municipal source and then flows directly through your faucet.
How do you ensure the quality of your bottled water?
We go through a 10-step process to make sure our bottled water comes out tasty and safe. It starts with carefully selected spring sources and ends with extensive quality assurance tests. We check and re-check both our water and package quality every step of the way. To see how we keep an eye on quality for each step, check out our Water Quality Report.
What is the pH of Arrowhead® water?
Arrowhead® 100% Mountain Spring Water can range in pH level from 6.6-8.2 at the time of bottling. The pH of mountain spring water varies by spring and depends on a number of factors. At Arrowhead® 100% Mountain Spring Water, we source from carefully selected springs in and west of the Rocky Mountains, so each bottle may have a variance in pH. BOTTLE QUALITY
How do I recycle plastic water bottles?
So glad you asked! Recycling is one of our biggest passion points and we’ve gone to great lengths to make our packaging as recycling friendly as possible. Recycling plastic water bottles is fairly simple but also varies by location. If your community collects recyclables, then you may be able to put your bottles out for collection just like regular trash. But if that’s not an option, you can find a location using the Earth911 recycle locator.
Are Arrowhead® water bottles recyclable?
Every bottle we make is recyclable, excluding cap and label. The Arrowhead water bottles may not be recyclable in your area. If your community collects recyclables, then you may be able to put your bottles out for collection. But if that’s not an option, you can find a location using the Earth911 recycle locator. When our 3-gallon and 5-gallon bottles are returned to us, we wash, sanitize and refill them 7-30 times. At the end of all that, we recycle them one last time. Keep recycling your bottles — together we can create an (almost) never-ending cycle.
Some of your bottles are labeled rPET. What does that mean?
Good question — “rPET” is short for recycled polyethylene terephthalate. This is just a fancy way of saying that many of our single serve size bottles are made with recycled plastic.
What are the sizes of Arrowhead® water are available?
Arrowhead® 100% Mountain Spring Water comes in a variety of sizes and bottles ranging from 8 fl oz to 5 gallons. Take a look at our product sizes to match your needs.
